Summer Camp FAQs

Questions About Registering for Camp

How do I register my child for summer camp?

Please visit our Camp Registration page to see which days and weeks have open spots for campers.

Am I required to register for a full day/week of camp?

No! We are all about flexibility here at KGA. Families may register for half days (8 am to noon), full days (8 am to 6 pm), single days, or full weeks.

Because of scheduled trips to Climb Nulu, please note that our Ninja Camp requires registration for a full week (M-F, noon to 6 pm). Similarly, our Tumble Bugs Camp for ages 2-4 is half days (Tuesday through Friday, 8 am to noon) only.

When do I pay for camp?

When you register for Camp KGA, you will be charged a non-refundable deposit of $75.00, plus $25 for each additional week registered for, to secure your spot. This deposit will then be applied towards your tuition. All remaining camp tuition and fees will be charged on the Friday before your registered week of camp.

Important Note: The non-refundable $25-per-week deposit becomes non-transferable as of May 1.

How do I cancel my registration?

We require a 7-day written notice to cancel any registered camp days or weeks. Should you need to cancel, please email office@kgagym.com. Please note, your deposit required to register for camp ($75 plus $25 per additional week) is non-refundable.

What should I do if my child can no longer attend a camp day/week for which they are registered?

If you have registered for a day or week of camp that you can no longer attend, please inform us as soon as possible by emailing office@kgagym.com or calling (502) 254-1010. Out of respect for those on our waitlist, please note that we require a 7-day written notice to cancel any registered camp days or weeks.

If you must cancel within 7 days of your registered camp day/week, we will place an in-house credit for the amount paid (less the non-refundable deposit) that may be used for camp, classes, or open gym. Please note this credit is valid for one year from date of issue.

What if my camper wants to do Ninja camp, but needs to be there a full day?

Full-day campers who would like to participate in our Ninja Camp should register for Ninja Camp from Noon to 6 pm, plus a half-day of “traditional” camp (8 am to noon). Our camp counselors will take care of the rest! Please note that a Ninja Camp+half-day camp will not be possible on Thursdays due to scheduled field trips for full-day campers.

Can my Tumble Bug stay a full day with an older sibling?

At this time, campers ages 2-4 years old can only attend Camp KGA from 8 am to noon. Many families choose to register their older camper in a half-day session (8 am to noon) for a convenient pick-up.

Questions About Summer Camp

What should my camper bring to camp?

Campers will have access to personal cubbies to safely store what they need for the day. Please ensure your child is attending camp with:

  • Shoes

  • Either a bagged lunch or $10 to purchase lunch (please note that Tumble Bugs and those participating in field trips must bring their own lunches)

  • Money for ice cream or extra snacks in the afternoon (optional; full-day campers only)

  • Water bottle

  • A change of clothing

  • Sunscreen (spray sunscreen only, please)

  • Swimsuit and towel (for those participating in the field trip to the pool)

  • Extra diapers and wipes (Tumble Bugs only, if applicable)

Please do not bring cell phones, tablets, or other electrical devices. Everything your child brings should be labeled with their first and last name.

How early can I drop off my child for camp?

Our doors open at 8 am. Campers may arrive any time after that.

Are snacks provided?

A mid-morning and an afternoon snack are provided. Frozen treats will be able for purchase from 50 cents (freeze pops) to $2 (fudge bars, ice cream bars). Cash only. Otherwise, campers are welcome to bring their own snacks and/or additional snacks.

Please note that while we do not serve snacks with peanuts or tree nuts, we cannot guarantee a 100% nut-free environment.

Is lunch provided?

Lunch is not provided. Campers may bring their own bagged lunch, or purchase lunch for $10. Purchased meals include:

  • Monday: Chick-fil-A (5 nuggets or sandwich, waffle fries, and milk or apple juice)

  • Tuesday: McDonald’s (cheeseburger, hamburger, or 6-piece nuggets; French fries; juice)

  • Wednesday: Zaxby’s (Fingers or Grilled Cheese; fries; and juice)

  • Thursday: Taco Bell (2 tacos, juice)

  • Friday: Papa John's (2 slices of pizza, juice)

Campers may bring $10 in cash to pay for their lunch each day or choose to have their card on file charged. Please note that charging lunch to the card on file will have a 3% service fee added.

IMPORTANT: Full-day campers who bring neither their lunch nor lunch money will have lunch purchased for them, and their card on file charged $10 + the 3% service fee.

Can KGA accommodate my child’s allergy?

While KGA does not serve anything that contains peanuts or tree nuts, we cannot guarantee a 100% nut-free environment.

If your child carries an EpiPen, please ensure it is labeled and left safely at the front desk.

What do I need to know about the weekly trips to the swimming pool?

Campers aged 7+ may attend the weekly Wednesday field trip to the Hunting Creek swimming pool. A sign-up sheet will be available at the front desk beginning every Monday morning of camp. Spaces for the Wednesday pool field trips are limited, and are first-come-first-served. Campers participating in the swimming pool field trips should bring a bagged lunch, a swimsuit, and a towel.

What do I need to know about other scheduled field trips?

Weeks 2-8 of camp include a field trip relating to that week’s theme. To find out, which weeks include a field trip, please visit your Parent Portal or our Summer Camp page.

Field trips are open to campers ages 5+. To accommodate staffing and because all tickets are pre-purchased, campers who are registered to attend camp on a field trip day are required to participate in the field trip. Please ensure your camper has a packed lunch, plenty of water, and sunscreen on field trip days.

Can my camper skip the field trip?

No. To accommodate staffing and because all tickets are pre-purchased, campers who are registered to attend camp on a field trip day are required to participate.

How late can I pick up my child from camp?

Please ensure your child is picked up from Kentucky Gymnastics Academy by 5:30 pm. Note that an additional fee of $1 per minute will be applied for any child picked up after 5:30 pm.

Can my child walk home?

No. For your child’s safety, an adult must walk them into the gym, sign them in, and sign them out each day.

Can my child bring their cell phone/iPad/other electronic device?

Camp KGA is a device-free zone. Not only can we not ensure the safety of cell phones, tablets, and other electronic devices, but campers will not be allowed to use them during camp hours. (Please note that any camper who requires the use of a phone to call home may do so in the front office.)
